DEXA body scan

Measure what matters beneath the surface

Small changes in energy, performance, and wellbeing can reflect shifts in metabolic health. Advanced body analysis helps uncover these signals, and we translate them into personalized strategies tailored to your body and goals.

Hidden signals

You consider yourself healthy, but you know something feels off

You are functioning, but not feeling your best. Perhaps some of these signals sound familiar?

  • Fatigue
  • Irritability
  • Exhaustion
  • Weight gain
  • Food cravings
  • Poor sleep

These symptoms are often early warning signs that your health, and particularly your metabolism, may be under pressure.

Symptoms not severe enough for traditional healthcare to act on. Yet enough to make you feel that something is out of balance.

And perhaps most frustrating: you don’t know where to start.

Is this for you?

Many internal changes begin long before they become visible on the outside. Over time, hormonal fluctuations and both physical and mental stress can contribute to increased visceral fat and loss of muscle mass, often without obvious changes in appearance or weight.

  • Midlife & (peri-)menopauseHormonal changes can influence energy levels, mood and focus, and lead to changes in body composition.
  • Professionals working in high-stress environmentsLong workdays, high cognitive load, pressure and poor recovery may affect your metabolism.
  • Athletes, health optimization and longevityFrequent cardio and endurance training and extreme dieting can compromise metabolic efficiency and optimal performance.
Our approach

Science-backed. Person-focussed.

Below the surface, key factors such as muscle mass, visceral fat, and metabolic health play a major role in determining your long-term health.

Visceral fat

The fat around your organs — invisible from the outside and invisible to a scale. DEXA measures it directly.

Fat mass

Total and regional, so you see the pattern and not only the total.

Muscle mass

Mapped per region. One of the three essential pillars of metabolic health.

Bone mineral density

The same measurement hospitals use to check bone health.

What you get

A report, and a clear picture of where you stand

A DEXA scan (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) is the most accurate, affordable and safe method to measure fat mass, muscle mass and bone mineral density — three essential pillars of metabolic health.

  • A 45-minute session in which we scan your body with DEXA
  • A written report with your DEXA results
  • A clear picture of where you stand today
  • General recommendations on how to improve your metabolic health

Start with the scan. Go further if you want to.

Two things, and they build on each other. The scan tells you where you stand. The consult turns that into what to do about it.

From your first question to your report

Four steps. You pay nothing before it is clear that a scan makes sense for you.

1A few questions

Six questions about your age, what you have noticed, and whether anything rules a scan out. You leave no personal details until you want to go further.

2A physician looks at it

A licensed physician assesses whether a DEXA scan is appropriate for you. Where there is any doubt, that happens before you pay anything.

3Pick your moment

You choose a time that fits and make the deposit. That holds your place.

4Scan and conversation

45 minutes in total. The scan itself takes a few minutes and you keep your clothes on; the rest of the time we go through your report with you.

Before anything is booked, a licensed physician reviews your request to check that a DEXA scan is appropriate for you. That review is why we ask a few questions first, and why you pay nothing until it is approved.

Learning from Nature’s Masters of Longevity

Personalized approach

No one-size-fits-all.

The whale is an illustration, not a medical claim. Nature shows that fat distribution says more than fat mass — nothing here is a statement about whale physiology.

  • I had been told for years that my numbers were fine. The scan showed where the fat actually sat, and that turned out to be a different conversation entirely. For the first time I knew what to work on.

  • The physician read my answers before I could book anything. That is the reason I trusted it.

  • Four minutes on the table, then half an hour going through the report. The half hour was the valuable part.

Good questions

The things people actually ask.

Is the radiation safe?

A DEXA scan uses a fraction of the dose of a regular X-ray — comparable to a few hours of natural background radiation. It's still why a physician reviews every request first.

Is it covered by insurance?

No — this is a preventive scan you choose yourself, so it isn't reimbursed. The €150 covers the scan, the physician review and the results walkthrough.

Can I come if I'm pregnant?

No — during pregnancy we don't scan, even at this low dose. The questionnaire checks for this, and you're welcome afterwards.

Who performs the scan?

A trained technician performs the scan; a licensed physician approves it beforehand and signs off on your report.

How is this different from an MRI?

They answer different questions. An MRI images tissue and structures in detail and is a diagnostic tool a doctor orders when something specific needs looking at. A DEXA measures what your body is made of — fat, muscle and bone — and where it sits. A DEXA is quicker, far cheaper and uses a very low dose; it is not a substitute for an MRI and it looks for nothing that an MRI looks for.

Why not just use a scale or a smart body-fat monitor?

A scale gives you one number for your whole body, and that number cannot tell you whether you lost fat or muscle. A bio-impedance monitor — the kind in a smart scale — sends a small current through you and estimates the split from how easily it passes; that estimate shifts with how much you have drunk, eaten or trained that day. A DEXA measures the tissues separately and by region, so it can say where fat sits rather than only how much there is. That distinction is the whole point of this scan.

Curious whether Vitary is the right fit for you? Start with a few questions. Sometimes you can pick a moment straight away; if your answers need a closer look, a physician goes through them first — and you pay nothing until your scan is confirmed.
